Surprise, surprise that I am still awake at this hour. Normally I would be fast closing my eyes, no matter where – in front of the TV or laptop or even just by having a casual chat with someone.
I’ve just finished watching Ip Man. I got hold of the DVD earlier when I was out for drinks. When I asked for it in the shop in Cantonese, I heard the seller told his partner to bring “I P Man.” Hmm…..I really found it funny the way he pronounced it. Shouldn’t it be “Ip Man” (read as Yip Mun)? Or was it just their code?

I asked the seller if the DVD and the sound is ok? He said everything is fine, except for the subtitles. Subtitles. Not that important. Don’t rely on it a lot. Ok, so since I didn’t plan to work tonight, I would just get it and watch it in my cozy little room.
Ok, I slapped it into the DVD player and pressed the Play button.
I was really engrossed withthe movie. I would say it is an action packed movie, and it is educational to us. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t mean we should get violent here or being as cold blooded as the Japs. The little part of what happened during the Jap invasion war time and why they left China....
[ The subtitles were really funny. Not only it was direct translation, but most of the words just didn’t make sense. It was just typed in for the sake of having a subtitle. “Yip Sifu” was written as “Master Leaf Asks”. Can’t they just use Master Yip? But for RM8, what do you expect, right? ]
Donnie Yen was of course the main actor as I -P Man. He was really cool in the movie. So MAN…… ;)
Yip Mun was the first kung fu master to spread the teachings of the first martial art of Wing Chun. He showed the Chinese what was nationalism and team work. Yip Mun was the master of Bruce Lee. Watch out for his punches, kicks and the speed of it. Magnificient!
Together we stand, we are united.
No matter under what sort of situation, he kept his calmness….until the Japs started to hurt the Chinese. One humble, down to earth guy, he was. You should really see how he fought the Japs, one by one and mainly, the super-duper-cruel-Eurasian looking General.
Need not to say more about the movie. Great story line, good actors and actress. Just watch it if you haven’t.
Nights.
