Alarm rang at 7.45am and I squinted my eyes to get my phone. Pressed the snooze button and took a nap for a little while more. I was really tired and sleepy because I had only 2 hours of sleep the night before yesterday as I wanted to catch sunrise by the seaside.
I went into the showers…*yaiks, cold..cold..*
The sky was very gloomy and raining. What a day to be dark and wet. Damn, I had errands to run today.
I had a bad feeling about today.
Premonition, it was.
Clad in a black top and jeans, I went to the Immigration Department to renew my passport. It will be due in September.
Right, so being a “sua ku” and couldn’t recall how I did it in the past years, I checked with the guard there on the procedures for a ‘renewal’. I was directed to this enclosed glass room. In there, there was a Malay officer assisting the citizens of Malaysia with their passport renewals.
Okay, when it was my turn at the KIPPAS machine (Kiosk Perbaharuan Passport), the lady with tudung helped me out. She was very helpful. It only took less than a minute to get it done.
Firstly, the machine scanned my thumb, then she slotted my IC and current passport into the slots. There was a section where height was needed to be stated. I didn’t know that I grew 2cm taller over the years until I measured myself there. I thought I have already stop growing. Hmm…..
*Grin*
I had lunch at the Malay restaurant nearby the office. I didn’t want to drive home, thinking that the whole process would take only 2 hours and it should be done after lunch hour.
I was so wrong…..
I practically wasted the whole day at the immigration office despite they said the renewal of passport takes only 2 hours. My ass (please excuse my foul language). All sorts of excuses were thrown to my face when 3 hours have passed.
"Cik, mesin rosak. Kena tunggu."
That was the answer I got from the officer.
Yeah, for sure they have to cover up their ass as well. So, they had to put up this notice.

I supposed the delay bukannya kerosakan teknikal tetapi masalah kelembapan manusia.
My point is, I wouldn’t have been so pissed off and worked up if this department didn’t specify the duration of getting a passport renewed. Time is precious to me and I have other better things to do on my valuable day off than to sit my ass on the stupid green chair for hours which can practically hatch eggs. I heard so many people grumbling about the long wait while typing this draft.
After lunch, I removed my car from the difficult-to-find-parking lot and drove to the nearest post office. I didn’t want to waste anymore time than to wait for the bunch of slow ass working on my passport. I needed to claim my road tax rebates.
Money, money!!! Come to mama!!! It was also better to claim it than to “donate” it to the government. It is citizen’s money after all.
Seriously, next time whatever business (errands) which involves an 8am-to-4pm-department-which- includes-karipap- and -teh -slot -and -being -a -Chipsmore -at -their -counter (now you see it, now you don’t), please remember to give an extra couple of hours to your waiting time.
A simple logic behind this: MALAYSians truly practice MALAYSians timing and they apply first- gear- speed- of -working style.
Good luck to your visit to THE offices.
