Pat a Pet

Nowadays we see the pet shops and pets’ grooming centre growing like mushrooms in town. There are also quite a bit of pets' hotel/ day care centre set up. Restaurants these days also allow their patrons to bring their furry friends to dine along (mostly for cats and dogs). What else? I wonder if there will be pets' public toilet or pets' restaurants for buffet meals or shopping malls for them in future? More and more people are just into having pets for companionship. There are many kind of animals that people keep as pets – cats, dogs, birds, fish, hamsters, tortoise to the more extreme ones…snakes or scorpions.

Me? Yea, I have been having pets on and off in my life. I remember when I was a kid; I had many giant tortoises as my pets. Giant tortoises? Yup! Simply because I was living in the mining area and papa would bring back tortoises that were crossing the jungle roads. =)

After living in the mining area for almost 12 years, we moved to reside in a town area called Subang Jaya. Then onwards, I had a few types of pets!

Firstly, I had gold fish – those round bubbly orange gold fish. Then later, I bought a pair of guinea pigs from Petaling Street. Let me introduce you to my late great guinea pigs…..

I clearly remember I used to hold Cola to sleep in the afternoons on the sofa. Mickey and Cola – this great couple had many many many babies! All of them were so cute and their coat was as soft as cotton when they were born. When the family got bigger, we build a lil "farm" for them in the garden to run around. Sadly, they died of old age. Mickey and Cola were with us for almost 10 years.

It was early last year that I reared fish. Little fishes and snails filled the tank. In addition, I also had 2 lil pudgy fresh water Fugu fish. I got them with my ex-boyfriend in Hartamas Shopping Centre. I love to watch them swimming around in the tank, and around the green leaves…. After a couple of months, both of them passed away. I couldn’t figure out what was the reason they didn’t make it….

Can you see the fatty Fugu fish?
Last September, I adopted Gabby from PAWS. It was the time I really needed companionship than just for fun. It surely wasn’t easy searching for the right doggy.

All grown up and pretty now
Now, I am very happy and contented with Gabby in the house! She is the power in the house as she generates a lot of laughter with her funny acts! All of us love her endlessly…..
