Break Free

It was weird. It was purely coincidence or was it a blessing in disguise?

It was an affirmation.
After close to 9 months, I witnessed it again. This time round, I am just glad that I am out of IT that was leading me to nowhere but to the world of misery…..

Choices and Decision Making

At times when a person has several choices or invites given at the same time, it is difficult to choose. I have been facing this challenge lately.

Yesterday evening, I was invited to go for a BBQ party. On the other hand, I also received an invitation to have dinner in PJ. Hmm….both companies also I enjoy being with. How to choose? Later, I’ve made up my mind to go for the BBQ dinner. While driving there, a close friend of mine called asking to yum char later at night. I said I would call back to confirm…..suddenly I felt it was a little too much to handle.

Anyway, I made my way to the BBQ party. Gosh, I had so much. There were chicken wings, beef slices, pork meat, fried meehoon, sausages and sweet corns. Also, I had beer. (I was thinking to myself that I might have some alcohol at night before I received the BBQ invite. I supposed it was really LOA.) Yum…..just too much food - yummy-delicious food.

We chit-chatted and laughed the whole night sitting at the porch till we parted at 12.30am.

Another great night with the presence of fun-loving people.

888 and not 666

You know how Chinese are so into auspicious numbers?

Isn’t it a nice number to hit? I just had to record it.

Dim Sum on a Sunday Afternoon

It was 2 weekends ago that I had “brunch” with my family in Uptown, PJ. Papa suggested trying out this newly opened Dim Sum restaurant. I didn’t find the food delicious, it was just normal to my palette. I also find the prices for normal dim sums relatively expensive.

Anyway, it was an experience to pig out with my family at a new place.

It was also great to sip on a cuppa Pu Er tea at the end of an oily meal.

KPC

The little kay poh chi (means busybody in Cantonese) who has an inquisitive mind.

Needless to say more....

Well groomed little toes

I went for pedicure this afternoon. It was an impromptu decision and thank goodness they had an available slot for me. I’ve decided to pamper myself and indulge for well-groomed toes.

It had been 6 months since my last pedicure session. I had been painting my own nails for the past few months. Today was the day I had my pleasure time to catch up with my magazines as well while the manicurist worked on my toes and feet (scrub and massage).

When it was time to select the colors, I’ve decided for a happy and fun color, instead of my usual “complicated-high class-lady like- color” (maroon). I went for fuchsia; and I added 2 cute nail art.

See! This is the little lady bird. Isn't it adorable?

Being FEARLESS

Are you….or you want to be?

If you are, then Sebastian Professional is your brand. This fashionable and celebrities' fav brand fits you perfectly. If you want to have fearless, sexy edgy, "un-invention" hairstyles, then you have found it.

I was at a pre- launch 2 weeks ago. A sneak preview. And I had a tattoo on my arm – a temporary one.

It was a warm afternoon but the place I was at was transformed into a club, intentionally. Once I stepped into it, I didn’t think it was anywhere else but a club with the upbeat music and dimmed lights all ready to go. On the metal tray, there were Whip Cream, Potion 9, Shaper Fierce and Trilliant. All of them were the names of the cocktails served to the guests. The names are actually the products’ names and each followed the products' color and they tasted yummy. How UN-INVENTION was that?

Had some Kampai too!

Our Malaysia’s famous artist/DJ was in the house, Melissa Indot. She was at the event to “spin-ging” (spinning + singing). It was my very first seeing her performing, up close and personal.

Me with the media partners

After the “spin-ing” session, fearless models paraded the edgy hairstyles.

By the time the event ended, the sky had turned dark. Everyone left in awe.

I know I did.

And when the party started!

Want to know more? What's Next? Look out for it in July 09!

A Blood Sucking Night

It was my last resort.

I hit the bed at 12 midnight as I was tired and also had a very full tummy (that helped to make me feel sleepy even earlier). I was hugging Bobo trying to find my way to dreamland. I think I did after 10 minutes.

Not too long after that….I could feel….IT.

Yes, it was the evil mosquito.

I knew its existence! I heard its irritating sound aiming at me. The bloody blood sucker. It sucked my sweet blood from my arm. I got irritated, I got up in the dark and took out my long sleeve peejay and put it on.

It was still disturbing me and I couldn’t take it anymore. I switched off the air-cond, hugged Bobo with one arm, and grabbed my pillow. I opened Mama’s bedroom door. “Eh, it’s not locked. Papa must have fell asleep while reading downstairs on the couch.” I thought to myself.

So, I strutted in and slowly replace my pillow with Papa’s. Mama sensed something and she woke up. I quickly identified myself and plopped myself on the bed. I told Mama about the annoying blood sucker.

I actually felt cozy and comfortable lying beside Mama, sleeping. It has been ages since I last did that; think it was when I was in Sydney and she came visited me. Very quickly, I fell asleep till the alarm rang this morning…….

Humpty Dumpty Had Dumplings

I was invited for a “Dumpling Festival” food frenzy a.k.a celebration.

Yup, today is the actual of Dumpling Festival. It is the day dedicated to Qu Yuan, who threw himself into the sea as an act to protest injustice and corruption. Fishermen wanted to save this idealist from being eaten up by the fishes in the sea; hence they beat drums and gongs and threw rice into the water. In the Chinese’s believe, every 5th day of the 5th month in the lunar calendar, we will celebrate as remembrance of Qu Yuan. According to some elderly people, apparently dragon boat races indicate the search of Qu Yuan’s body. In some culture, the Chinese offers dumplings (sticky rice wrapped up using bamboo leaves); thrown into the sea as offerings.

I left work quite early and headed to the HOUSE. The HOUSE that forever welcomes people for meals. Sexytary gave me a warm welcome and made me felt at home. My makan kakis were already there. We ate so much till we were too heavy to move. On the dining table, there were fried chicken wings, noodles, the Hokkien dish – “Yi Hu Char”, steamed rice, chicken soup, braised duck and steamed promfret fish. Of course, there were the gigantic steamed dumplings! How can we miss that out, right?!

OMG! I am so full.

We chatted after dinner and enjoyed cups of ocha. Nice!

And that was my unexpected event for the day!

Cheerio!

In Reality

You would think 'someone' is really sitting there taking a break........

What about when you take a look from the front?

Did I just give you a shock? I hope not! *BIG GRIN*

Aiks...

**I was just bored in the office….We have plenty of ‘heads’ lying around…**

Indescribable; Invincible

A simple note to all Fookies.

We are unique in different ways,
Who make heads turn with envious stares,
Endless hilarity filled the air.
Because we are jolly always.

Thick and thin we had,
Ups and downs we were there with our shoulders,
Went on our own way for several years,
Later we reunite,
Travelled in the same vehicle,
Bunked together at night,
Hearty chats and genuine laughter all we had.

Even though knight in shiny amour (will) come,
I know this friendship will last till kingdom come,
It will never part us in the years to come.

Busy Bee for the Day

It was not as bad as I thought it would be….

It wasn’t too bad for a day after having a day off.

I started off my day with 40 emails in my mailbox. I was ready to tackle the day. I went through my emails, one by one. This time, I’ve decided to read all them before replying because there might be some which have been replied or taken care of. =) [ have to work smart, right? ]

Anyways, my stomach had a major ‘concert’ in there around noon time. The ‘drums’ were so loud that I could hear it even though I was typing non-stop on my laptop.

I stopped at 12.40pm and decided to pack my lunch and dine at my cubicle. I just had too much to finish up before the day ends. It was a super-busy day for me, but I did what I could. I actually didn’t stress myself up, at all!

By the end of the day, I was quite contented with my achievement. There will be more to come…tomorrow. I left the major ones for tomorrow; I will be doing some minor ones after this.

I hope you had a nice day too! Embrace each day with a smile.

*The sky gave in. It rained finally. I was glad about it despite I don’t quite fancy rainy days. *

A Joyous Monday Morning

Today marks the day of happiness. Blissful and joyful are the words to describe ‘the day’.

LawyerLawyer picked me up this morning and off we headed to Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN). It was the BIG day for our dear bestie – 5th Fookie. Her R.O.M (Registrar of Marriage).

It was my second time stepping my feet into Putrajaya; the huge government township. The buildings are quite “canggih” but the streets also are quite confusing. We finally managed to find our way there and we hurried to Level One as we didn’t want missed the memorable moment. (Aerosmith's mouth suddenly came to my mind, singing- "I don't want to miss a thing.....")

The rest of the “sisters” were already there. I gave 5th Fookie a blessed hug when I saw her. I was really happy for her! We waited approximately 15 to 30 minutes and it was their turn to take the vow and sign the papers.

Me, being the excited and inquisitive one, followed into the room and ‘kay poh’ how was it done. How a couple of minutes would turn 2 people into a couple (for life). Wow, to my amazement, there were actually 3 different cultural setup deco at 3 different corners for the newly-weds to take photos.

We waited for awhile before the civil officer came into the room. So, we grabbed the opportunity to snap a few photos! Hahaha….

Chinese corner

Malay corner

It only took a few minutes before the vows were said and the papers were signed. After the civil officer left, we had photo sessions again! Serious one and also of course a fun, naughty one.

We are just overjoyed with the event!

Later, we adjourned to Putrajaya Seafood Restaurant for lunch. The drive there was quite an adventure as it was an eye opener to explore Putrajaya this way. =)

We chatted and laughed endlessly over lunch (all Fookies and photographers had one table to ourselves, not bad right?). We also planned for a future event coming up soon!

*Grin*

All of us, the Fookies, took some photos with the bride on this memorable happy day before we said our goodbyes with a filled-up-to-the-brim-tummy.

Me with the bride

Picture perfect!

Now, we look forward to see the pretty photo albums and to attend the wedding dinner!

** We’ve known 5th Fookie since we were 13. Over the years, we have been through thick and thin, fun and joy. Congratulations, 5th Fookie & KM !!! **

Amazed in the Maze

I have been gym hopping lately. From Celebrity Fitness to True Fitness.

Took a shot of the main entrance as I arrived early

Yup, I managed to get a parking lot at the busy business centre in Taipan. I walked in with the Free Trial Card and wanted to register. But the sales person wasn’t around, so I waited at the lounge area for Sexytary and Mamma Mia to meet me. I waited and waited…..and while waiting, I took out my trusty lil’ buddy to capture a few shots (– secretly).

The lounge area didn’t quite appeal to me because I felt it was out of theme/ concept. A disco ball in a gym’s lounge area? Not as if there is alcohol served or disco beat music was playing? Hmm….Anyways…

Mirrored disco ball - Saturday night fever?!

Mamma Mia and Sexytary’s classes ended late. So being kiasu and not wasting any time, I found my way (I got lost in there because the fitness centre is huge! It was as if a labyrinth in there) to the ladies’ changing room, put my gym bag in and locked it. I strutted downstairs to the treadmill area, mini-myni-moo, I picked a machine, set the program and started to walk (there were just heaps of machines to choose from). After 5 minutes, Mamma Mia found me!

She gave me a short tour before we went in for Body Pump. Wow, it was another good workout session! (Yes, I am again suffering the pain on my arms, shoulder and chest)

At the end of session, we met up with Sexytary again and had lunch together at Old Town Kopitiam. We ate, chatted (more like gossiping) and laughed for a few hours before we said our goodbyes.

What a HOT day!

I just had a sauna session. Not in the gym, not in a club or a spa centre; but in the office!

I went back to the office for awhile to clear off some of my urgent jobs. I wanted to stay on after an hour at my lil’ cubicle, but I was sweating like a pig. I couldn’t take the heat anymore, despite being clad in shorts, a singlet and hair tied up. With no delays, I hurried to complete the jobs and packed up.

The weather is just crazily hot like an oven!

I am so glad to be back in my room with the air-cond blasting away.

Yummy Thai Dinner

As usual, we met up for our weekly pigging out time. We had thai food tonight! It was my suggestion as I was craving for it. It had been sooooooo long since I last had tom yum….

It started to rain heavily when we were nearing the restaurant – Khuntai Restaurant at Gasing area. I managed to get a parking near the restaurant and I ran into the restaurant whilst Dave used my umbrella to escort Mamma Mia. (There was only the fuchsia colored umbrella in my car, the other one was in the boot)

We ordered the food and some of them were recommended by the boss. Later, Dino and Arrow joined us.

The food was served pretty fast! Ahh…..finally I get to have tom yum and also indulged in the icy cool drink.

Yummy yum yum!

The total bill was RM 150 for 5 pax. Reasonable price for a good meal! Worth it, worth it!

We had a jolly good time with the food and also chatting and laughing away the whole night. After dinner, we adjourned for drinks and there we continued with our hearty conversations!

Our appetizer - refreshing

Fried Kang Kong - a lil too oily for me

The complements and condiments for the appetizer

The waiter showed us how to wrap it

Some sweet veg fried with eggs..don't know the name of it (Recommended by the boss)

Yummy yum yum Tom Yum !!!!!
Just right, not too spicy or sour

Chicken Green Curry- creamy and rich

Fried Prawn-cake - unique taste

Look at the amount of food we ordered!

The ever-refreshing drink

What a simple, relaxing and enjoyable night out; with the presence of a scrumptious meal!

In Return...

Just before I went out for dinner today, I was camwhoring with Gabby. I tried having Gabby to look at the camera but she refused too! One doggy with attitude!

Later, she turned to me and kissed my cheeks….when I snapped the photo, this was how it turned out to be!

I moved away! Hahahaha...

The Changes on my 'Head'

I would say it is very important to wear a suitable hairstyle.
A great hairstyle can mean the difference between feeling ordinary and extraordinary. Once you get a great cut, maintaining and styling hair properly is the key.

I’ve tried quite a few different hairstyles myself over the years. From really short to loooooong… Allow me to share them with you:

1. A boy- cut style during my early secondary years. Looked a bit like Aaron Kwok's old hairstyle?

2. Then kept a long straight-with slight natural –wavy- flat- boring hairstyle.

3. Tried on an Afro wig.

4. From a student’s usual long virgin hair to highlighted hair. Long hair with long fringe.

5. Then, from everything long to a mullet style with a concave fringe.

6. Next, when my fringe got longer, I changed my style again. That time I got a bit rebellious, so I bleached part of my hair. Can you spot it?

7. After a few months, I got bored with straight hair (even though I know most guys love long, straight hair). So, I’ve decided to have a change. I permed it; had curly locks, and kept it for almost 12 months.

8. From a long permed hair, I had it shorter and later I cut off all the curls. And I had my straight-shoulder-length hair again.

9. Again, I got bored with the shape and hence back to my curly, wavy locks again!

Not too off limit, right? My verdict from all of the hairstyles I had - straight hair is the easiest to maintain (*duh*); but have to beware of the tendancy of split ends, but long curly hair is also not too bad. Wake up in the morning, sprinkle some water and I am ready to go! I think I have not use my hair brush for quite awhile...hehehhe...

Have you had any drastic hairstyles in your life before?
