Sunday at Annie's

Sunday afternoon. It was time to spend some QUALITY time with my parents.

I woke up rather late yesterday morning and I gave Gabby her weekly bath. Almost got toasted under the hot sun.

Anyway, I got ready, so did my parents. We headed out for lunch. I drove them to Uptown again to scout around for food. I wanted to explore some diners that we’ve never tried before. We drove one round and decided to try out Annie’s. The family business-café looked packed with people; we thought that the food was really good and apparently they claimed their “wanton mee” (egg noodles with dumplings) is originated from Menglembu (some small town in Perak; which is also famous for their roasted peanuts).

We managed to get a parking right in front of the shop. We walked in and got a table. Looked through the menu and finally ordered our food. We waited and waited…..then we noticed there were quite a few tables haven’t gotten their food. Shit, I think we got “conned” to eat there. Not because of best-est food in town, but there were so many people sitting in the café because their service was quite slow. Slow turnover.

Fill this up with the codes and pass it to the waiter

I think we waited for about 15 minutes before our food was served. Papa and Mama had the famous wanton mee (which I felt it was rather sweet. Maybe it is the sauce they use) while I had clear soup noodles with char siew (roasted pork). I also ordered a glass of lime with sour plum drink and caramel custard!

Hmm……the lime with sour plum drink brought back memories. Sweet memories. It was the kind of drink that I used to have when I was a kid. It tasted like home-made-authentic lime with sour plum, unlike those green looking drink with a sour plum in it that we have in the usual coffee shop. Also, OMG, the caramel custard tasted just like the one I love in the famous restaurant, Tin Jun, in Ipoh, my hometown. It was also served with a glass of ice water. Yummmmmmmm……………..

Now, I know where to look for caramel custard when I crave for one!

The bill? RM 21+. I would say it is reasonable for a so-so tasting food!
