I went into the room to seek for advice and confirmation this morning.
After the short discussion, my mentor did a post mortem of the event we had on Monday. She fed me with some advices and guidance. She was open about it and told me which were the areas that have room for improvements.
The first general comment and feedback was that I must learn and start to delegate tasks to others; even though it was an overall successful event. To be a leader is to oversee the whole project and have constant communication and updates with the committee team. Building teamwork is the key point here; and not to do everything myself.
My mentor further elaborated that delegation of tasks will allow me to see things clearer and even spot the missing details; little details that will make a difference or even an impact! Small matters do matter!
I accepted the comments given with an open heart.
I recalled how foolish I was a few years back, when my ex-superior (in my ex-company) gave me her comments and told me my flaws. I clearly remembered that I got so furious and later felt sad for myself. I stood outside the office and tears started flowing down my cheeks like a cascading waterfall.
But anyhow….
…..that egoistic attitude was in the “old” me. The past. I felt that I have changed a lot over the years.
It is a life time learning process, as long as we are alive. I totally agree and support this. The learnings that we got are what we would never read in books and it is known as – experience.
Advises and comments are gems in life.
Take every insult as a compliment and life would be merrier; brighter. Improve for the better!
Cheers!
