Eating Up North

It was the long weekend. I was away for a short trip.

I was the assigned driver for the trip. Yup, first time driving up north. We left pretty early that morning to avoid the heavy traffic. Our journey there was smooth and great.

Made a pit stop at Ghee Hiang for their speciality – Sesame oil. Great stuff for cooking and also instant noodles! ;p

(below) Special looking centipede buns...

Chinese buns - perfect with kaya and coffee!

It was our makan makan trip, mainly. Yummy to the max! I was practically stuffed with food in my stomach for 2 ½ days there.

Don’t they look yummy and tempting?

Aunty Goggle's char kuay teow (I will show you her photo in my upcoming post)

Aunty Goggle's fried kuay teow (I will show you her photo in my upcoming post)

We had numerous kind of food and of course some great ‘6 star hotel’ home cooked food, because we had a chef from Singapore to pamper our palate.

Ice cream for dessert

Super yummylicious tiramisu!

Spaghetti!!!!

Durian buffet by the road side…..started off with this..!

One at the end to wrap up

Lavish dinner we had…..

Black pepper crabs

Salted eggs (fried) crabs

Steamed prawns

Salted baked mantis prawns

"Buddha jumped over the wall"
We had so many countless mini meals in between our main meals.
Famous Wan Tan Mee at Carnavon Street

At Padang Brown, we had.....

The famous popiah with crab meat

Fried pork bread

The "brains" (otak-otak)
This was the trip where I experienced being behind the wheels for 7 hours! Limited toilet breaks , overtook and sped whenever I could. Yup, you might have guessed it. Traffic was extremely horrific coming back to KL. It was bumper to bumper the whole journey till NKVE, I think. The best part was there were no accidents nor breakdowns on the road!

I was exhausted and I had jelly legs that night. (It would have been worse if I was driving a manual car!)

But, overall, it was a great experience. Never try, never know!
