A Long Thursday For Me

Thursday. I had some drama happenings at work. So, had to resolve it ASAP, plus I had to provide a briefing to my client that evening. Anyhow, after all the drama and rush, I attended a farewell K'oke nightout for my colleague at Neway.

I was late to arrive but I wasn’t the last. =)

Another colleague of mine and I dashed to the food area as we were starving. I was because I only had 2 pieces of biscuits for lunch. Unfortunately, there weren’t much food left and Neway had some changes on the food selection. I just took whatever was ‘eat-able’ and headed back to the room.

Wow, my colleagues are really great singers, man. They can sing very well and their voices – awesome! I was there to enjoy the (food), drinks, and I had a few tunes too….hahaha….luckily it didn’t rain cats and dogs that night.

I didn’t stay till the end as I had a meeting early Friday morning, plus I needed to prepare the facts and figures for it that night……

Work-Life Balance

Tuesday afternoon, I rushed to The Curve right after my meeting. I met up with 3 other colleagues for lunch at Little Penang Café and later we strutted to Cineleisure. Yea, you must be wondering: Shioknya, no need to work, can watch movie…..

Well, little will you think we were actually there for our Business Review. It is a company’s event where the whole company gathered to share the business' directions, business figures, progress, giving out appreciation awards and of course to have some team building activities as well.

While we were watching the video (speech) from our Asean VP, we could here the sound of the movie from next door……

After 2 hours, we moved on to the next agenda of the day. We had a “treasure hunt” in The Curve and Ikano. We had to answer all of the questions given by following the clue. As proof that we really did it and been there, we had to take photos.

So, if I show you the photos here, will you be able to guess what the questions were?

Testing out some jeruk

Later at night, all of us drove or car-pooled to Mum’s Place for dinner. And there was where I went through ragging. Well, luckily it wasn’t any over-the-board- ragging. We, being the newbies in the company were asked to dress up in some given clothes (overlayering our clothes) and down beer in a baby bottle. The 3 fastest who downed the beer will win a prize. I bagged 2nd prize. It wasn’t really easy to gulp down beer through a pacifier, standing.

It was nice day out from the office, overall. =)

Good Morning, Weekend

I just woke up not too long ago. I feel much refreshed and recuperated right now. If it wasn’t because of having something mind bothering, I would have slept till kingdom come (err….I mean sleep till late afternoon).

Anyway, this whole week was a very busy one for me. Many happenings and because of some planned and unexpected events, I didn’t really have sufficient time to complete what I was supposed to do. (I will blog about the week’s happenings in a separate post)

Yesterday was a replacement holiday for my company as today is Thaipusam. So, even though I didn’t have to work, I went for a 2.5 hours meeting with my client as she was working. I really hope what she confirmed verbally with me will really happen. I will be jumping up and down when it really happen (by month end I will know).

*Keeping finger cross*

So, the weekend is here. I know it will be gone right before my eyes again soon…. But, I will fully maximize it, no matter what. It’s always my long awaited weekend anyway.

Opera Nightout

I always believe a picture paints a thousand words…

If you can remember this, then here are the photos to share with you. The fun night I had...

Goodbye, my fellow buddy

In a day’s time, it will be taken away and it will have a new owner. It will have new tasks and responsibilities to serve the owner, just like how it served me well. It had taken me round town, up north, down south and to the east coast. I will miss its’ convenience size to fit into tight parking lots and going through narrow lanes.

3 years and 8 months being by my side; but soon it will be gone. It has never given me many problems but only asking for its regular check-ups.

I am very proud of it, but I am letting it go. It’s time for a change and also to let go the past that brings 'down memories' and the chase I had.

Before I let it go and god knows where will it go, I had some photos taken with it as remembrance.

After all, it was my first.

*Gabby had many rides in it as well.

7am

Good morning!

I didn’t sleep much, probably closed my eyes for 4 hours? I was up, working….. Tell you more if my energy level is ‘OK’ tonight.

Wish me luck for today! I am seeing the buyer solo….

A Sunday Afternoon with 2 machines and a Cuppa

4.03pm, Sunday afternoon. Here I am, sitting in front of one computer and one lappie with a cup of freshly made Arabian brew.

All cleaned up and feeling fresh (after gym and my bath), it’s time to do some work - some preparation and operational tasks for tomorrow onwards. Well yeah, it is supposed to be always a work-life balance weekend, but sometimes I guess I have to breach it.

This weekend is (coming to ‘was’ soon) a quite relaxing but productive one. I know I have many things to do on my plate, but I am not stressing myself out.

I managed to settle some errands yesterday morning and spent time with my parents. I bought them lunch at Duck King and later we dropped by Carrefour for some groceries shopping.

Later in the evening, I met up with my gym buddy for Body Pump. Rushed home for shower and went to pick Mrs Giggs up. We had dinner plans with the rest of the gang….Of course, at night, we watched MU vs Hull City and the result was 4-0! Yay!

Ok, I better get back to my work on my lappie. I have a birthday dinner tonight!

Ciao!

Sporty Thursday

Let’s do a quick review for this week.

Well, I felt the week was extremely long. There were one too many happenings and dramas at work. (I shall not reveal them here)

Towards end of the week, time was still passing by quite s-l-o-w-l-y. But, I had a fair share of fun. Let me tell you a little…

I was quite busy in the morning. Needed to sit down with my mentor to discuss and ask for solutions to the problems that I was facing. At 10.50am, the both of us rushed over to the pantry area for our Fitness Challenge.

The first thing that took place was the professional trainers from Fitness First took my weight. Then, I sat on the mat and did stretching. I had to stretch as far as I could…..wow, that was tough.

Second task – push ups. Yup, I was tested on my endurance level by doing push ups with my knees on the ground, as many times as I could in one go. Hmm…surprisingly I managed to do 23!! Broke my own record…hahahha

Lastly was to follow the tempo and do steps. After doing that, the trainer took my pulse rate…..

Later in the afternoon, all of us in the company met up at Sunway Pyramid for bowling session. Gosh, it had been ages since I last touched a bowling ball. But anyway, after a few throws, I got it….

So, the four of us ended up with this at the end of 2 games. 2nd prize for the 2nd highest scores achieved!

With the smart people...

Yay!

The bloke I visited...

Another weekend had passed. An occupied one.

Let me see….I didn’t go to the gym on Saturday because we needed to check out a very cute looking bloke. We made our way to the new house where this bloke lives in.

In about 30 minutes, we reached our destination. I was pretty excited because besides seeing the new cute bloke, there were great food served too! All my yummy home cooked food….. Wah………………….I was drooling……and I purposely skipped breakfast for it…

After the scrumptious meal, I took a closer look at him; while he was sleeping.

Let me introduce you to the bloke I was referring to from the beginning….

…….Issac!!!

In the evening, we sat outside at the garden and we enjoyed the cool breeze as it rained. We chatted non stop and endlessly….

I had a great time catching up with those whom I don’t see often…..

Expectation vs Disappointment

Another long day I had. I am not complaining about it because it occupies my day very well.

I attended a software training in PJ this morning. Bumped into my previous business associate while I was on the way collecting my car at the car park. Had a quick lunch at McD before I headed back to office to do some work before heading to my buyer’s office.

While I was driving home from work today, I thought to myself about what my fellow colleagues told me earlier when they were leaving at 8 plus. One of them told me to take it easy and slowly. My reply to him was that I cannot afford to be slow as my buyer works extremely fast and she expects me to be on the same pace. Another colleague messaged me online, asking me to log off and go home. I am grateful that so far my colleagues are approachable and being very patience with me. I am kind of the 'problematic child' in the office...always asking and interrupting others working.

I wondered to myself if I have set a high expectation for myself? Is it good to have so much expectation? When there is no expectation, there won’t be disappointment. It might apply for me on other things in life; things that I can let go, but work wise, I don’t think so…..
Sorry, my mind is just too clouded……..

An Impromptu Appointment that Made Me Realise Something...

It was an impromptu appointment. I left work late today, around 8.30pm. It was another taxing day in the office, coping between my work (learning how to do it) and also clearing off some leftover claims from the previous person.

I called an old friend to catch up while driving home and later decided to meet up. Great! I had someone to accompany me for some food (indirectly). I wasn’t exactly hungry but I was eating for the sake of having some food in my tummy.

Anyways, it was really great to see this friend of mine again. We chatted and updated each other with our lives and happenings. There were so many things that we chatted about and one of it was relationship and how things happened in our lives that made us who we are today………….

I told this person that how I wished I could turn back time and things would have been different today. But on the other hand, if the event didn’t take place, I wouldn’t have realized that I can really change myself for the better and handle a situation (or a person) better. Sometimes I supposed we just always take things and people for granted – especially people when they are nice to us.

We chatted for almost 2 hours plus and decided to call it a night. We have made plans to meet up again some time soon. The conversation we had, made me realise certain points in life...

Well, got to go now…

Nite.

A Maximised Weekend

Almost every weekend I am pretty packed with events/ happenings (I am not saying that I am very ‘happening’ person, please don’t get me wrong :P )

Well, this weekend I had a wedding dinner to attend and also my brother’s birthday to celebrate. Other than that, I had some errands to run too.

Let me start with Friday night…..After my sales conference finished, I headed back to the office to send out some emails to my client. It was important, so I had to do it. After that, I rushed home to feed Gabby as mama went to Ipoh for the weekend. I drove over to Mrs Gigg’s place and we carpooled to Sunway. We had dinner with the bride-to-be and then adjourned to Opera (a new club in town) for her hen’s night. I widen my network as there were a few friends of hers whom I haven’t met before.

Well, that night started off a little slow, but it picked up once we (I know I did) had one too many glasses of drinks. It was my first time stepping into Opera and I was amazed that they actually have acrobatic shows in between the songs played. The interior of it was a little English as there were plaster ceiling and the bar area was decorated with masks – like the one used in the movie/ theater ‘The Phantom of the Opera’. The waitresses were all dressed in short red and black corset dresses.

We started partying at 10pm and left at 2.30am. A long night. I also met a business associate of mine there, he was just standing at the table next to ours. How coincident?

(I will upload the photos when I get hold of them…)

I set my alarm clock for 10am ,Saturday, because I needed to feed Gabby. Unfortunately, I overslept and didn’t hear it rang at all. Instead, I woke up at 12pm. Poor Gabby was lying on the cool marble floor, waiting for her food to be served. *Ooppss..sorry dear….* I hurried to the kitchen and fixed her meal.

I took papa out for lunch as mama was not around and brother Marky Mark had his own agenda. After lunch, I was feeling rather lazy and tired. *yeah, an excuse to lie on the bed again*. This time, I didn’t take a nap but I watched a DVD. It’s called ‘Goal’. The storyline is about this young boy who had the passion for football and dreamt to be a player with one of the clubs. It is a very nice, touching movie. I also got to learn how it’s like to be a footie player (the hardship that they go through) and their life being a ‘celebrity’. Very inspiring movie ,overall.

In the evening, I got myself ready for a wedding dinner. It was my ex-colleague’s big day. In a way, it was also a reunion for the Wella folks to meet up for chats and laugh at the round table. It was really great to see some of them again. Isn’t it ironic, we don’t usually meet up but only at occasions like this?

(I will upload the photos when I get them from the Pro)

Anyways……after the dinner, it was time to watch footie! Yup yup, a few of us went to the nearby mamak to glue our eyes at the flat screen with glasses of coffee and juices.

Sunday 3am, I got home (I think). Felt very exhausted. I hit the bed right after my bath.

Again, I overslept and woke up 1 hour later than the alarm set. I woke up holding my mobile phone – I must have pressed the stop button when the alarm rang.

Hurried to get myself ready and left the house to run some errands. Before going places to get things done, parents and I had dim sum in PJ. We met up with brother Marky Mark for lunch at Daorea. Yup, to celebrate his birthday. It was a very filling lunch……

Being served

Mrs Giggs came to pick me up for movies in the evening. It was ‘Did you hear about the Morgans’ that we watched. Well, felt that it was one of those typical romance chic-flick. After the movie in the evening, we headed for dinner. Before hitting the restaurant, once I was done at the ATM machine, Mrs Giggs pulled me to this shop. Tutti Fruiti. It was an outlet which have self service frozen yogurt. Yummm! Even though I snacked a lot in the cinema, but I couldn’t resist it because I love yogurt! Plus, they had fat free yogurt! Lagi I went crazy….but it was a little pricy as it is RM 5.80/ 100gm. So, if you filled the cup up and added the condiments, it might cost you easily more than RM 10. Mine was RM 8.75. But it was a good experience to know the quality they serve. Not bad, not bad…..

And here I am now, sitting right in front of my pc blogging. Ok, need to have my bath now and start organizing my work for tomorrow.

I had a great weekend and I hope you had a fantastic one too!

My new concept – “Work hard on weekdays, play (very) hard on the weekends!!!”

Good night.

Just normal....

I tried out the most-people-mentioned- about Louisiana Restaurant in Kelana Jaya last 2 weeks. Well…here is my opinion about this place.

I had quite a high expectation from this restaurant. Honestly, yup, I totally agree about the nice ambience and environment, for the fact that it is located by the lake. The American styled décor makes it lovely. It is a nice hang out place for drinks but to dine in.

I had their margarita and it was ok. Not too bad.

We ordered quite a bit of ala carte that night. The taste of it just didn’t seem to satisfy my palette. Generally the dishes were nothing to shout about. There are other places with nicer tasting food………And we had to wait quite a while for them to be served.

Really..nothing great at all!
