My Climb

When they announced that this month’s sports event was ROCK CLIMBING, I was kinda worried as I haven’t tried it before in my entire life.

Anyway, I thought of working through the day (I really have a lot of backlogged work to do) and skipped the event, but my boss told me to go. It is an official sports day anyway….OK, so after dropping by my buyer’s office, I zoomed off to Camp 5, One Utama for the CLIMB.

We had a few rounds of try-out sessions on few different kinda walls. When I tried the 2nd climb, my legs were shivering a little. I had to admit that. Well, I thought I am not afraid of heights, but looking down where to step on – some little ‘blocks’, scared me a while.

But, I told myself that I could do the climb.

There were 6 of us in the team.

I was really surprised with myself that I could climb all the way up during the actual mini competition. There were a few walls for us to climb within a set time frame. I was even nominated to do the blind climb for my team. During the task, which was about 3 stories high + blind folded, I accidentally held my colleague’s shoes; who was climbing next to me to the top. I think I gave him a shock as he didn’t know if he should move…. Haha….

There was a lot of team work involved in the competition. We supported and encouraged each other to go all the way…!

I was practically sweating like a pig. I didn’t know it was such a great workout! I bet I will be suffering from body ache tomorrow.

After the competition, all of us went for drinks and snacks at TGIF to cool down. Nice nice….. ahhhh……

From today’s sports outing, I realised: it is really important to keep your mental thoughts strong and be confident. When you tell yourself that you can do it, I am sure you CAN do it! There is no fear that someone cannot overcome. Also, even though the climbs were tough and scary, but when you strive to reach the top, the satisfaction and proudness - Indescribable.

Just like how I did it!

And how I had a minor scratch.
