It was a very challenging day for me at work yesterday.
The day first started off with a meeting. It was more of a brainstorming and decision making meeting. I normally gather everyone’s input before making a decision as everyone has their ideas. It was really quite frustrating when someone speaks sarcastically and pushing the responsibility around.
I don’t see a point in doing those acts. Everyone is responsible for the project and of course we want to make it a success. It is obvious that it will not be only one person’s winning credit when the project succeeds; it is everyone’s – the team.
Respect was another matter that bothered me. I know that respect is being earned. However, there is also the ‘basic respect’ in the case when someone speaks or enquire politely, the answers do not need to be in a rude manner.
Anyway, I brushed them off by bogging myself down with work. It was a busy day for me – the day filled with teleconferences with Singapore and also handling issues which urgent help was needed.
My rough sailing day ended at 8pm. I packed up and left the office. I was quite exhausted – mentally.
Met up with Guardian Angel and Stevie for dinner. I was late for our appointment. 1 hour. After dinner, they adjourned to Stevie’s house for a game of cards. I was supposed to go as well to have some fun, but I’ve finally decided not to go as my eyes were really tired plus I didn’t want to affect the guys with my moodiness from work. So, I gave Guardian Angel a call and told him about my decision. I told him that I can make my way home as it was so nearby (and we went in separate cars) and he doesn’t need to accompany me home.
Little did I know, I saw his car when I was waiting for my auto gate to open. He ensured that I reach home safely before he left for the game. How sweet!!! Totally didn’t expect that to happen! Sometimes, big and pricy gifts do not count, but little action like this makes a difference too in a relationship.
I was working at home after my bath. My boss was on Skype so we chatted for awhile on the happenings in the office as she is on leave (in London till early Dec). She was concerned if I was stressed up and thanked me for holding the fort while she is away. Well, it is my job and this is what I always emphasize- “team work”.
By midnight, I hit the bed..and guess what, I woke up late this morning!! Ooo….rush rush….but still made it on time. :)
