I embarked on a day trip down South few days back. It was one heck of an adventure. Let the drama diva (self claimed, haha) tell you about the day filled with dramas…….
I was on Firefly Airline as the timing was more in my favour and also I didn’t like the distance travelling all the way to Sepang. I was in the airport around 7am. I checked-in and walked through the custom and passed through all the checks of bag. I sat down and waited for the plane to arrive. My flight was scheduled to be at 7.55am and so I was blasting my Ipod away while waiting…..I waited and waited and the time has was showing 8.10am. I didn’t realize that I was waiting at the domestic flight departure hall until I went to ask the ground operations officer. She informed me that I should go to the international flights departure hall which was next door.
SHIT!!!! I ran over in my heels and again checked-in at the counter. The first thing the lady said was: "you are very lucky. The flight is delayed to 8.20am." I thanked her and hurried my way into the hall. Sat down for awhile and boarded the plane.
Phew! What a relieve. I didn’t miss my flight and luckily it was delayed and I will be late for my training, which was starting at 10am. What a blessing in disguise.
I was sitted next to the aisle. Next to me was this clean-cut looking Indian man. We started chatting and he is a consultant for APAC region in Kelly Services. Later he got all excited and couldn’t wait to share with his wife that he met me, who works in a hair product company and handles a all-time favourite brand, System Professional.
I took a nap while my Ipod was on. Finally, we’ve landed in the Land of Kiasuness; safely.
I hurried to the cab stand and made my way to the training center. I was there to be a sponge on the hair trends release of 2011. I needed to get as much info as I could.
[Snap shots taken in the cab, on the way to the training center]
The training session went on well. I met up with my team members (who travelled a day earlier) and also met my counterparts around ASEAN countries. I’ve also met up with my previous colleagues who are now based in Singapore’s office.
I left the building at 5.15pm to the airport. My flight was booked for 6.45pm but it was delayed (again) to 7.30pm. I asked the officer for the reason of the delay. “The runway is broken and plane has technical problem”. “RUNWAY BROKEN”???? Ok, whatever…
Below is my "Fast & Furious- Uncle- Taxi- Driver. He made me feeling nauseous and almost puke when I got out from the cab. His display screen was showing "DRIVE CAREFULLY" in RED!!! What was that supposed to mean??]
One thing about Firefly is that they inform their customers on any flight delays or changes via text messages. So, I waited for the time to come. Later, an announcement was made that my flight is delayed from 7.30pm to 8.30pm!!!! This time, I was very annoyed. I walked around the waiting area and tried looking for any information counter. I wanted to check if I can catch another earlier flight home if the plane is not full. Again, walking in my killer heels, it was really killing me; my feet! I got really frustrated and desperately sought help from 2 officers who were buying their coffee from the café. I just want to go home.
I told them my situation and one of them were kind enough wanting to escort me out the gates to the Check-in counter to enquire. Half way walking there, she recognized a Firefly staff and so I turned to this Firefly staff with my problem.
She was unsure about the transfer of flights, but I think she saw my tired, pitiful face, she asked me to wait while she checks on it in her office. There was quite a bit of hassle transferring me to the earlier flight as her manager didn’t allow it. I made a fuss (in a nice way, simply because she was kind enough to help me) for the transfer because I don’t see a problem since the plane has empty seats!!
Ended up after quite a wait, she told me to try my luck at the boarding gate. For the 7.30pm flight, it was located at Gate 10! A super long walk. I was dragging my feet with an empty stomach and made my way there finally. I was sitting there, waiting for the gate to open. While playing with my mobile phone, an Indian staff approached me and asked if I was the person who requested for the transfer. He informed me to wait as the manager will bring my amended boarding pass for the 7.30pm flight! Yes! I was really happy and grateful to him for the good news, and most importantly, my gratitude to the lady who helped me from the beginning.
I was almost the last person to board the plane. The manager brought the boarding pass at the 11th hour. I thanked the lady and boarded the plane. Guardian Angel was already at Skypark waiting for me when I arrived. I hopped into his car and off we went for a quick dinner.
