I punched in early at work this morning. It is the first day of school so I left home early to avoid the traffic as parents will be flocking to schools with their children.
It is the first day of work for 2011. I wonder what is in-store for me? I foresee it will be challenging yet good one this year.
I had an experience today. It wasn’t easy and it really tested my people management skills. I know the traits and personalities of the people who I am talking to and dealing with, yet I have to be very careful with my selection of words and the intonation. I can’t offend them, yet I need them to know the situation and opportunities to improve. All of us make mistakes anyway; we are just human. But do not repeat the same one again and again.
People management is something which I have never handled or encountered (directly with a team of people) before until this new role of mine. My mentor is coaching me on this. I know it takes time to master the art of managing people but I do hope I can pick it up fast enough.
