I feel like crying.
I feel so upset and disappointed now.
This is the story of why I am feeling the above.
My team and I went to XXX Salon (I won’t disclose the name of it as they are still my customer after all) today to test out our new digital perm machine that we loaned them. We wanted the owner’s feedback and tips for using the machine as he claimed that it is really good.
So, both myself and Sexytary were the guinea pigs for the day. I wouldn’t have agreed to this if I have known the outcome of the perm. Thinking that it’s the new year and the festive season is approaching, I thought this would give me a new NICE look. But…..it turned out to be….. *hint, you will see me tying up my hair for the next few months. Sexytary’s hairstyle turned out to be very nice and what I wanted. Soft and ladylike. I didn’t get it because of the difference in size of the rods used to perm.*
First, he trimmed – sorry, I mean CUT my hair. I told him not to cut too short and do not touch my fringe. But, he told me that he needs to give me a bang fringe to fit the style nicely. I have done few rounds of digital perm before and the final style were nice and sexy (note that my hair is always done by my in-house experts). So, thinking that it would turn out to be the same, I didn’t stop him PLUS he is in the business for almost 20 years now. He cut off at least 4 inches of my hair and gave me a bang fringe. Argghh….too late to say that it’s too short.

It is one well known taboo to say don’t cut here or there. The stylist will definitely rebel your wish. This is their attitude. So, don’t try to challenge them, especially when it is done for free!
He started to roll my hair with the perming lotion into the rods. In total, there were 14 rods on my head. The machine started to heat for first 10 minutes as 70 degrees Celsius, and thereafter, he checked my hair and increased the heat to 90 degrees Celsius for another 10 minutes. He said that the curls were not properly formed yet. I felt the heat at my neck and it is normal for all digital machines.

When my hair was finally done, I got my hair rinsed and I was horrified! I TOTALLY DIDN’T EXPECT IT TO BE LIKE THIS.
I won’t show you a photo of myself as I am saving you from feeling nauseous.
I am truly disappointed. Not with the new machine or my products (I truly trust them for sure that they are good), but the skills and judgment of cooking one’s hair, oppps..I mean perming.
I can’t sulk nor show my dissatisfaction in front of my customer as he was kind enough to share the usage and tips of using the machine, so I pretended to be happy with my new hairdo. Mum knew I am very unhappy about this when I got home.
I need my own experts to fix my hair real soon and slap on a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot of hair treatment. Arrgghhh!!!!
Here are a few tips for you out there when it comes to our precious tresses:
NEVER allow or dare to try a new stylist if you have regular one who does a good job or listen to your desire.
NEVER perm your hair if your hair is shoulder length. The length will definitely shrink a little and you will automatically being upgraded to an Aunty if your hair length ends on the shoulder and especially with small curls.
It has to be big curls and NOT SMALL ones.
NEVER do anything major to your hair if you have any upcoming events/ festive seasons. IT IS A RISK, unless you trust your regular stylist (Now, I don’t know what to do when I go for my meeting in Bangkok end of this month).
Give at least 1-1.5 months to let your hair settle in before your BIG day.
Bring along your desired hairstyle (in magazine or photo) to show your stylist, at least the both of you have the same expectation.
ARghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
