Judgement

Being an observer can really 'see' further and know more.
I had 2 interviews today, wanting to engage someone to be the addition to my team. I got my mentor to interview them while I sat beside her to observe the way she interviews so that I can learn. I've never done interviews before this role.

So, anyways, 2 candidates boiled down to 1 and this one, my mentor gave me her opinions about the selected; remaining one. I also observed and saw his behaviour during the 1 hour session. Honestly, besides his work experience and exposure, I don't comfortable and confident having in reporting to me. I felt the dishonesty during his interview with my mentor and I really dislike someone who likes to twist and turn their stories - which don't tally to their earlier story or unclear.

My mentor left the decision to me. I think I already have an answer.
Over lunch time, I sought for more guidance on interviweing people from my mentor. She told me that we can also judge someone by his/ her gesture (body language), dressing and the way he or she walks - how they carry themselves.

I totally agree and I witnessed it today. It's good to step back and look at it from a helicopter view; at times.
