The final stressful day of mine

Day and time: Monday, 6am

Venue: Empire Hotel, Subang Jaya.

I was there. The sky was still dark; the weather was a bit chilly. Well, I didn’t have to be there that early, but my team was there to help the Guest Artists with the backstage work (hair preparation). So, I thought it was better for me to be present to support them.

Sky was dark, prep work started

Everything wasn’t as per my request – additional extension plugs, water, removing the sofa for more space and additional chairs for my top models. Sigh. I had to run around getting all of the required so that they can start work. In between, I had to go out to fetch my intern because she doesn’t have a car. She lives nearby but then it was early in the morning 7am, and it wasn’t exactly safe walking alone on the streets in that area.

With no sleep at all, I managed to keep myself awake but I was quite annoyed that everything, everyone was coming to me – the guest artists, the production house, the hotel manager. I waited and waited, for my boss to arrive.

I couldn’t wait for her to come to seek her advice on the poster truss. Finally, she arrived. I let her settled down and approached her. I told her the situation and the miscalculation I’ve made. She took a look at the ballroom with me and thought for awhile. She told me not to be so stressed because it is a small matter. The posters were shifted to another location in the room. I quickly made a phone call to get the supplier’s guys to come over and get it shifted.

Yes, I was very stressed up or tensed up that day. My intern was kind enough to offer me a bottle of Red Bull. I was fine, just that I was easily agitated when I felt that not many of them had the initiative to help out.

I didn’t get to sit down much. At 11.15am, I had to order packed lunch from the cafĂ© in the mall and smuggled them up to the backstage for the crew. I had my colleague to help me with this smuggling job.

The below was taken during the rehearsal.

I hurried to change my clothes to a presentable set more the event. When it was almost 1.30pm, that was went the media was coming for the exclusive interview with the Marci, Joshua and Kenza. All 3 of them had a good chance to speak to the media on themselves, the Sebastian Pharaohs of Form collection and their inspiration.

Opps...painting this big guy to be goldish while interview was going on...

Hmm…I would say I was quite in an –easy-to-blow up mood that day. One of my guy colleagues asked me if I was having my period. *Opps* I only started to smile when the media and guests started to arrive. Wow, I’ve never been so worn out before. Not in all of the previous events.

All ready to go!

The show started quite on time. The story line was basically based on the transformation of ancient Egyptian era to the modern one. There were dancers dancing in sync with Michael Jackson’s Remember the Time MTV, models acted as slave and being pulled out for their punishment by having a haircut; and later the ambience slowly changed to the modern rock Egyptian era.

I was still not quite myself until the event was totally over at 6.00pm. Guests started to leave, all of the suppliers started to clear up. My colleagues started to clear up the registration area and all of the backstage used stuff.

These are the only 2 photos I had on the event day. I totally didn’t get to see how was my makeup (done by the makeup artist) and hair (By Kenza’s team member) at all. I just told him to do a simple one for me – just so at least I don’t look pale and with messy hair.

Overall, it was a very tough experience. It would have been easier if other people had the initiative to help out and not just sitting around until I asked them for a helping hand.

I am surely glad that it is over and that particular person who influenced the others (on treating me differently) is leaving in a week’s time!

*Hands clapping loudly*
