My 2011 Happenings

Soon, 2011 will be over and we will be welcoming 2012; another exciting and great year.

Here are some quick memories of 2011 for me.....

Leroy and I celebrated our birthday together for the first time. Our birthdays are just about 1 week apart and hence our friends arranged a joint-celebration  for us. The photo below shows that the both of us putting out the candle on the Haagen Daaz Double Chocolate Cake.

Leroy gave me a surprise birthday dinner.

And for the very first time, I received an expensive gift in my entire life.

This was another expensive gift from him to me for Christmas. My specs were really old and outdated, so I 'wished' for a new pair of specs.

...And me with the new specs.

I had also traveled on a few business trips this year, mainly to Singapore and once to Bangkok for meetings.

During my business trip to Bangkok, I was rewarded with a free hair-do because of my active participation and this was it.

There were couple of happy events this year. My bestie got registered and got married!

This was the planned hen's night for her...

And, finally after 9 months from the ROM, she had her dream wedding dinner.

We had constant meet ups and dinner celebration together this year to keep our friendship going. Our 'family' just grew bigger...

Work wise - I was involved in a few projects. It had been a very busy year for me with events and launches.
Of course, there were fun in between..

SKINN launch

Wella Trend Vision 2011 Collection launch

System Professional Alchemy Members Quarterly Meeting

The recent Sebastian Professional Daredevil Diva Collection launch

Sebastian Professional Pharaohs of Form Collection event

The experience of flying the plane at Air Asia Training Academy during our visit

Elizabeth Arden's Red Door relaunch event

Friend's wedding dinner at Corus Hotel

And finally, our 2nd Christmas celebration together.

I look forward for another great 2012 with him. I am now in his house blogging while waiting for time to 12am to watch fireworks....

3 Celebrations in 1 Day

Yesterday was filled with celebration events during my working hours.

First, it was to celebrate my colleague's birthday. We are both in the same team  - the marketing team. Boss when to get the ordered cake from BonBon in the morning. We got everything all ready in the pantry and later I went to call her at her cubicle. I told her there is an announcement from Big Boss at the pantry.

We walked together to the pantry. The lights were off and ta-da! The rest of the colleagues started to sing the birthday song. Guess, we all gave her a surprise!

She cut the cake and we shared it all. It was a low fat fruit cake....very nice! Nothing was left within 10 minutes.

At 11am, the sales executive reminded us about his customer's salon opening. So, we all met up at the lobby and left to the salon in 2 cars. We congratulate the salon owner, checked out the place, hung around and made a move back to the office after the lion dance ceremony. We had another round of celebration back in the office.

By the time we got back to the office, it was 12.40pm. We hurried to put down our handbags and headed to the pantry area again. It was our New Year Lunch. There were roast lamb, curry mutton, noodles, vegetables, and the highlight was the Turkey! The chestnut rice to complement the turkey was yummy.

After lunch, I went back upstairs to finish up some work. It was an unofficial half day. So, I left at 3pm to have a haircut and it was the beginning of my long weekend..... this is my main celebration! : )

Christmas Chocs

Christmas time..and I saw this Christmas packing m&m's at Empire Gallery. I bought a pack for Leroy as he enjoys m&m's. He normally take the one with peanuts, but this time, I got the one with peanut butter...just for the sake of trying it.

It tastes different...a bit salty after it melts in your mouth....it must be the peanut butter.

Check out the fingers digging into the bag. ; )

The price to pay

Last night we went to try out this steamboat & teppanyaki restaurant in Puchong - Rich Pot. I had this 2 Groupon vouchers for free and so thought to give it a try.

OMG!! It was the worst steamboat that we've ever tasted. The food selection sucks. It's the typical fishball, meatballs, crabsticks, vegetables, seafood, meat slices and etc. Nothing great AT ALL. For steamboat, most importantly is the soup. Very unfortunately, both of our choices - herbal soup and tom yum were tasteless. The arrangement of the plates and food selection were really unorganized.

Oh yeah, the teppanyaki...the marinated meat were marinated with 0 skills. The outcome of the cooking was just filled with oil.

Not forgetting, there was also a cockroach on our table. Leroy caught it using the bottom of the plate. Yuck!

Bring disappointed and didn't enjoy it at all, we had a bit of the food and left.

I don't practice buying Groupon or any online deals because I am afraid that I will have this kind of experience even though it comes with a super good deal. Not for food, perhaps.

My Ad Hog Christmas Dinner

Christmas is always about parties, dinners, food, presents...etc nowadays.

We booked the restaurant that Leroy had dinner with his business associates weeks back. I told him to book a table if the place has good ambiance and tasty food. He is the food expert...because of his taste buds. :P

The restaurant is located at an industrial area at Sunway Damansara. Quite quiet and dark area, you will find a lit up restaurant smack right in the middle of the row of shops.

We walked in and the place is really cozy. Not many tables they have, because the restaurant is designed and catered for the regulars only.

Leroy brought 2 bottles of wine for us that night. We had only one bottle...will keep the other for later.

The restaurant owner, Sam, is a friendly person. There was no menu for us to go through, he did the recommendation instead. The restaurant serves mainly pork, and of course they have chicken as well. Fish? Have to book a day in advance.

We started our gourmet with garden salad.

Then, followed by roast pork. Leroy gave an overview that each dish must have 3 different taste to satisfy our taste buds.

The food we had was really good. Thumbs up!

This is Roman Chicken. The taste and marination is just superb. I can't describe it.

Pork ribs.

Pork spaghetti.

Oh, this is the wrap. Chicken wrapped with bacon on the outer, served with red wine sauce.

This was what it was left.

Ad Hog is the name of the restaurant. I like the creative logo. : )

As usual, back to our house for pressies opening!

And that was it. That was my simple Christmas for the year. I hope you had a great one too!

I also need a rest

Iphone 4 is resting.

Loud & Clear

Food for thought.

The Early bird catches the worm

Yup, you got it correct alright. I arrived at the service centre this morning at 7.30am. Waited for the sliding glass door to be opened. Strutted in to get the number and waited for the staff to arrive.

Yes! I was the first person in the queue. :P  Speaking about kiasu-ness.

Not working today but still had to wake up early to get this long over-due service done.

Later!

A Total Surprise

Left work early yesterday and headed to Leroy's house. Met up with him and we went to my ex-colleague's house for his house warming dinner. We made our way there with the help of the GPS as the both of us are not familiar with that area.

I caught up with the rest. It was great to chat and catch up with the old times. So many changes in 1 year. The Indian dishes served was really yummy. Of course, the happy juice started to flow after dinner.

Leroy doesn't know all of them. He made some new friends and was occupied chit-chatting to them. I was glad, or else he would be feeling bored.

We hung out there till close to 11pm. We took a slow drive. I thought we were heading back to his place, but we ended up parking the car at Tropicana City Mall for Sherlock Holmes! I was totally shock but happy. Caught me off guard. He booked tickets for a midnight show. Awwww.....

By the time the movie ended, it was 2.30am. He told me to leave my car at his house overnight. He sent me home. I got home and left a note on the main door to notify my parents about the absent of my car at the porch, or else I will be either woken up by phone calls or early in the morning.

The Christmas Pressie

You see, I received this on Wednesday morning. It was a Christmas gift from my colleague, my friend, who is close to me. She gave it to me once she saw me at my cubicle.

I was totally caught off guard as I didn't expect that she would give me something.

Remember this ? I blogged about the last minute shopping I did? Yup, so in return, I got her a white sleeveless, lacy top for her Christmas. I left it on her desk once I came in the office as wanted to give her a surprise. The top was packed in a red box filled with hearts. : )

Later when she came in, I checked with her if she likes the pressie.....

Yup, I am still keeping her pressie to open on Christmas day itself. Regardless if her gift is expensive or not, what I got for her is something that she wanted and she is happy. That's the meaning of Christmas, sharing, caring and making others happy.

The Start to the Food, Drinks and Joy

Tonight will mark the start of the feasts and parties....!

Am all ready to meet up with the guys tonight! Haven't seen them for more than a year!

I have the Pinot Noir all ready for the feast......

Fly me to the moon

It was very sudden and impromptu that we made a trip to Air Asia Training Academy yesterday evening. We were there to meet up with Mupinder, the grooming trainer to discuss about a project together.

After our discussion, she took us for a tour around the building. Wow, the training academy is actually huge. So many classrooms, a big canteen and ........

Air Asia Grooming Room filled with their new uniformed mannequins.

A big pool, not for swimming but for training the crew during emergencies and saving people.

The above is Tony's car, given by Renault. Wished to have one.

As we were touring the building, Mupinder showed us the place where there are simulators used for training purposes.

Mus, coincidentally was there and he offered to let us try the simulator. It was a cockpit!! Wow, it was a really awesome experience!!! Totally unexpected!

So, both my colleague and I went on to be the pilot and co-pilot for about at least 20 minutes. Mus was really nice to explain how the plane works, what do the pilots do and etc....

All ready! And we were taking off at the track!

The view as we were flying....

And this was me, cruising after we took off.

Check out the buttons, tiny ones and loads of them. Now, you can imagine what the pilot has to do.... There is auto pilot, but still...the pilot has to know what to press when there is an emergency, taking off and landing.

Mus set the simulator to be dawn. Isn't the view just breathtaking? We also experience the night scene.

This was me, all set and ready to land the plane. Can you find the tiny runway below?

There you go...a bigger picture of the runway.

Landing.....

And finally landed....safely.

Even though we landed safely, but I was really excited that needed oxygen. Haha...well, actually, it was more of me wanting to try out the oxygen mask. It is actually real and it provides oxygen. Mus told me to inhale as usual.

Hmm...not sure what and how to rotate this picture with the new Blogger template.
This was me and Mus after the simulator training.

We finally finished around 5.45pm. We thanked Mus for his kindness to show us the simulator and also Mupinder for taking us around.

Received the whatsapp message from Leroy asking me to be at his house at 7pm, and cannot be late! We were going out for dinner with his family to celebrate Winter Solstice. Oh my.....1 hour from LCCT to his place?! I was sure I will be late. The traffic was really bad. I had to send my colleague to her car first before heading to Leroy's place. Anyway, I flew and by the time I got there, it was 720pm. Opps....

We headed to Sunway Pyramid for dinner in 1 car. After dinner, I watched the boys played Street Fighter and not too long after I left for home. I had somethings to do at home. As I just parked my car at the porch, Aunty called me and told me she wanted to give me 'Tong Yuen" to eat, and she didn't know I have left. (She was in her room when I left) I thanked her for it.

Well, it was an eventful day for me. A totally good experience at Air Asia. I guess my life is just getting a slightly more exciting these days. :)
