Cushioned Hair

Remember I was saying in my previous entry that I was going to get a haircut (this blog entry: haircut) ? Yup, so I had about half day off to visit the salon.

I took my boss' advice and headed to Hair Atelier at Jaya One. I had made an appointment 1 day before and the stylist managed to squeeze me in. He just got back from a vacation from Japan and he had all his clients lined up. I was lucky.

I reached the salon at 3.40pm. Waited for awhile till his salon manager asked me to take a seat at the styling chair. I thought it was going to be a long wait, but surprisingly sitting there for about 10 minutes, Aaron walked towards me. He welcomed me and sat down on the stylist chair. He gave a consultation session at first. I told him that I needed a trim at the hair ends as it was all damaged but I also told him that it took me a long time to keep at this hair length. So, him being sympathetic towards me, he said he will take 1 inch off. Yay!

He started off cutting the ends and gave me some layers at the sides. I love his cut! He has the Sebastian Professional hair cuts at his finger tips. After cutting, he felt my hair was a bit flat at the sides and the crown area. So, he recommended me to have a 'cushion perm'. He joked that my head will be cushioned and it won't get hurt even if I hit a wall. I was in doubt at first, but I remembered how my boss' hairstyle was. Her hair had added volume and body. So, I  agreed to it.

He didn't use rollers (as I thought it was a perm ma), but some clips, which look like those that we used to keep the remaining open packets of snacks. The hair clips that he used had 3 of these in 1.

The similar looking clips to these.

By the time it was all clipped, my hair looked like this: as if there were candies on my hair! It was a little painful as they were clipped very near to the scalp. During application of lotion and rinsing can be tricky. I was waiting anxiously for the perm lotion to take action. It was really a quick perm compared to a normal cold perm. It only took 10 minutes for the lotion to work and I had a rinse off. Then, back to the chair for neutralizer. Another 5 minutes for the neutralizer to lock the curls.

After rinsing at the basin, the assistant gave me SP hair and Nioxin scalp treatment. Ahh...it was so cooling and relaxing that I actually fell asleep. Luckily I didn't drool....hehehe

It was 6.30pm when my hair was all done. Aaron did a really good job on my hair. Now my hair is no longer flat and I just love the volume at the right places!

This is the final look.

If you do not have a regular salon that you go to, try Hair Atelier. Aaron has 4 outlets around town - Jaya One, Danau Desa, Jusco Maluri and Art Salon at Viva Home.
